Susafa
Polizzi Generosa Palermo Countryside, ItalyA great sense of space and peacefulness pervades the entire property, which retains elements of its glorious past as a thriving working farm, like the impressive storerooms and the old ovens where bread was once baked.
Quiet seating areas are hidden all over the place and there’s a large terrace with undisturbed views of the extraordinary scenery. The glorious pool in the garden is another great spot to enjoy the splendid country setting, surrounded by comfy loungers, verdant plants, and miles of golden fields.
The Susafa team offers a wide range of activities to experience first-hand the magic of this territory, from cherry harvest to delightful picnics in the countryside and fabulous cooking classes focusing on Sicilian delicacies like cannoli and the Palermitan ‘Sfincione’.
The menu takes inspiration from the island’s rural culture and culinary traditions, using seasonal produce sourced from local farms, as well as ingredients are grown within the property. Bread and pasta are strictly homemade, as it’s the olive oil, which guests can buy on site. The wine list mainly focuses on local blends and the staff is happy to organize wine tastings and share its knowledge of Sicilian wines.
During the day, the wine bar and lounge area set in the old winery are the perfect hideaways to unwind with a drink, and on cold days the fireplace is a great spot to curl up with a book.
Rooms at Susafa are a tranquil oasis of peace and quiet designed to ensure maximum relaxation. All are bright and spacious, with natural colour schemes, quality furnishings, stylish bathrooms, and useful amenities like wi-fi, climate controller, and kettle with honey and tea selection. They open onto the garden and have lovely views of the expansive valley.
Guests can choose from six room types. Top of the range is a Deluxe Suite complete with a spa area and private garden.
The property began life in the second half of the 18th century as an asset of the Church, which the Saeli-Rizzuto family purchased right after the Italian unification and developed into a prosperous farm complex. Today the resort is managed by the fifth generation of that same family, blending modernity with the region’s centuries-old rural culture.
There’s something incredibly relaxing about this place. Its idyllic location amid the countryside of the Madonie Natural Park, the enchanting gardens filled with lush vegetation and nature as the only sound that disturbs the profound silence of the place make Susafa the perfect escape for those seeking peace.
Guests staying at Susafa can rediscover the pleasure of living at slow peace and the wonders of a varied rural landscape characterized by woods, peaks, and gentle slopes cultivated with wheat and olive groves. Nature dominates the restaurant menus, too, with many ingredients coming directly from the hotel’s gardens and fruit orchards.
