You can sit and watch through the world go by or participate in the discipline Italians wish to list for the Olympics: the evening passeggiata (stroll) around the marina.
The Grand Hotel Portovenere is an excellent base for exploring the coastal town of Porto Venere as well as the nearby Cinque Terre. The historical structure of the building has been artfully renovated to offer an air of modern luxury while still remaining true to its roots.
The sea green, sand and yellow shades of your accommodation in Portovenere reflect the light and colours of the Italian Riviera around the Grand Hotel. Simplicity and linearity create a relaxing atmosphere, along with a mix of contemporary and classic styles.

Food & Drinks
Palmaria Restaurant magnificent, set in a Mediterranean veranda overlooking Portovenere Bay, remember a sort of contemporary sailing ship that is about to sail towards the horizon: the choice of rubberized teak wood flooring, in nautical style, recalls the ancient technique of caulking, such as the waterproofing of the hulls by the numerous master caulkers of the Gulf of Poets.
The cuisine proposed by the Chef Angelo Di Menza is a journey into the journey, being inspired by the “Grand Tour”, an educational rite of passage undertaken by upper-class young European men of sufficient means and rank.

The Bar is a quiet retreat after busy days. The original brick vaulted ceiling is a beautiful feature, but the primary draw is the fantastic view across the Gulf of Poets and the medieval heart of Porto Venere.

Rooms

Each of the hotel’s rooms has been stylishly decorated, and most also have a balcony or terrace.
Composed of one bedroom, a living area and two bathrooms, the Suite del Castello gets its name from Doria Castle, which sits majestically overlooking the village of Portovenere. The colours of Portovenere blend perfectly with the warm tones of the room and the hand-made furnishings of the bathrooms.
A continuous horizontal window overlooking the Gulf of Poets and embraces the beautiful landscape framed by Palmaria Island, the Apuan Alps and the charming villages of Lerici and Tellaro in the distance is the most desired trait in The Poet’s Suite. The room consists of one bedroom, separate living and two bedrooms.

The Cloister Terrace Junior Suite presents a panoramic terrace under the arches that belonged to the cloister of the ancient convent, showcasing the beauty and history of Portovenere.
The Deluxe Rooms are distributed throughout the historic building, bright and spacious, featuring large windows overlooking the Palmaria Island or the castle and surrounding hills of Portovenere. Every Deluxe room has unique architectural elements, and some include a terrace or balcony.

The Double Executive Rooms enjoy the sea view and features a unique space with a sitting area and a full marble bathroom. A few rooms include a small terrace or a balcony. The Double Classic Rooms are located throughout the hotel and have a view of the internal courtyard. Cosy and bright, these rooms include a sitting area and a full marble bathroom.

The village has often been called the “sixth” Cinque Terre town, offering the same celebrated seaside settings, remarkably scenic coastlines and walking paths less a good deal of the tourist noise.
