Antica Torre Tornabuoni

Florence, Italy
Overview
Antica Torre Tornabuoni is one of Florence’s most unique boutique hotels, thanks to a strategic location in the heart of the historical centre, beautiful panoramic terraces with epic views over the Arno river and town’s beautiful attractions and walls steeped in centuries of history.
Antica Torre Tornabuoni is an exclusive boutique hotel set in a historic building in the heart of Florence. Its location couldn’t be more central, right at the beginning of the elegant Via de’ Tornabuoni and only a few steps away from Ponte Vecchio and the lovely Oltrarno neighbourhood, while the train station is a 10 minutes’ walk away.
The hotel occupies a medieval tower built dating from the 13th century and the nearby Palazzo Gianfigliazzi historic mansion. The spaces have been restored in a way that preserves the historic charm of the building while blending it harmoniously with contemporary craft and design elements.
The hotel boasts two spacious terraces where guests can linger over a drink while soaking up glorious views of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the city’s rooftops and the hills of Fiesole in the distance.

Food & Drinks
Every morning a rich breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the Arno river or in a beautiful lounge where large windows frame the beautiful rooftops of Florence. It includes freshly baked cakes, bread made with ancient grains and organic products sourced from local suppliers.

During the day, the hotel’s bar serves tasty sandwiches and salads that hit the spot for hungry guests, while at dinner, the Tower Restaurant located in the hotel’s winter garden takes diners on a journey through the region’s culinary delights.
The Panoramic Bar is particularly well-stocked and offers a great spot to enjoy a drink with a view. Its signature cocktails are not to be missed, as they are prepared with truly unique ingredients like the rose liqueur from the centuries-old Officina Farmaceutica Profumo di Santa Maria Novella or the rosolio liquor prepared by the Benedictine nuns.

Rooms

Rooms at Antica Torre Tornabuoni are elegant and quiet. Most have enchanting views of Florence or the Arno River, while the décor recalls the classic Florentine Renaissance style, with a chic mix of parquet flooring, beautiful rugs, marble bathrooms and precious antiques here and there.

There are also a number of suites of varying size and style, from the Panoramic Suite with a beautiful terrace overlooking the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio to the Hammam Suite complete with a fabulous wellness area. Those seeking more space can opt for a beautiful apartment on the third floor of Palazzo Gianfigliazzi, which provides a large living room, a kitchen and three bedrooms, or the Presidential Granduca Suite on the 6th floor, which also includes a spa area and an exclusive private terrace overlooking Via dei Tornabuoni.

This hotel sits inside an ancient tower residence that was built in medieval times for a wealthy local family and then passed into the hands of the Gianfigliazzis, who are even mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy. What’s more, before becoming one of Florence’s top hotels, it used to host artists during their Grand Tour. No doubt those walls have many stories to tell.
