Montalembert

Listed as a historic landmark on the Left Bank of Paris, the Montalembert is an elegant 5-star establishment in Saint Germain des Prés, the atmospheric Parisian neighbourhood full of art galleries, antique shops, and literary cafés, just a stone’s throw from major attractions like the Louvre and the Orsay Museum (both 10 minutes walk away).  

Built-in the 1920s, it was the first five-star hotel to open in the area and became a favourite with artists and writers since its early days. It smoothly blends together period features like the vintage cage lift and spiral staircases with sleek contemporary design. Dark wood and polished marbles are paired with a vibrant colour palette of blues and yellows, infusing the space with a unique, refined atmosphere.

The cosy library in the lobby area is a great place to relax, sinking into comfy velvet armchairs with a good book or a drink, next to a lovely fireplace. Available to guests are also the exclusive treatments by Parisian cosmetic house Maison Flamel.

Helmed by Chef Maroleau, the Montalembert restaurant serves a selection of beautifully presented dishes drawing from local tradition to be enjoyed either in the elegant dining room or al fresco on a sunny terrace. In the morning, it doubles as a breakfast room, dishing up a traditional buffet of pastries, croissants, fresh fruit, and savoury treats. A great selection of cocktails and wine are served at the lounge bar throughout the day.

Corresponding to the southern side of the river Seine, the Left Bank has historically been the intellectual and artistic epicentre of the French capital, frequented by illustrious figures of their time like Voltaire, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and Jacques Prévert. Today it offers an excellent base to explore Paris, with great sightseeing, shopping, and dining experiences. The area comprises such Parisian highlights like the trendy Latin Quarter, the Pantheon, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Eiffel Tower.
